Do you offer on-campus interviews and class visits?
Yes. We encourage you to learn more about the Boler School’s programs by touring our facility, sitting in on a class, speaking with current students and meeting with a member of our staff. John Carroll University has a beautiful campus just outside of the city of Cleveland. The Boler School of Business building includes state-of-the-art classrooms with advanced presentation technology. Campus visits and interviews may be arranged by sending an email to gradbusiness@jcu.edu or in the Boler School of Business at (216) 397-1970.


How Can I begin the application process?
Simply complete and return the application form to us directly, without additional materials. Upon receipt, we will create a file for you and update you on your status as you move through our admission review process. Your academic transcripts, letter of recommendation, GMAT score report, resume, and additional documents can arrive to us separately. You may always contact us at anytime through email at gradbusiness@jcu.edu or 216 397-1970 with questions about your status of your application.


When should I apply to the Boler School’s Graduate Programs?
It is to your advantage to apply earlier rather than later. Regardless of the deadline of your application packet, the Admissions Committee will give full and fair consideration to your candidacy. Completed application portfolios must be received no later than three weeks before the beginning of your first semester. The Graduate Business programs accept applications on a continuous basis.


When can I start John Carroll’s Graduate Business Programs?
Semesters begin in September, January, May and July. Students may begin the program in any semester.


Can you send me an application and catalog for your MBA or MS in Accountancy Program?

I did not major in business in college and do not have a business background. Can I still apply?
Yes. Our program is designed to meet the educational needs of all academic backgrounds from virtually all areas of study, including liberal arts, business administration, social sciences, physical sciences, engineering and law.


Do I need full-time work experience in order to apply to the Graduate Business Programs?
Work experience is not required, but having professional experience provides a frame of reference for classroom discussion, and is therefore encouraged.


Can I waive courses in John Carroll’s programs based on prior academic work?
Yes, foundation courses can be waived based on equivalent coursework from an accredited college or university. For an automatic waiver, you must have graduated within the last 5 years and received a “C” or better in the course as verified by an official transcript. Persons who graduated more than 5 years previous to starting one of our programs may have courses in Block I waived based on previous coursework and the nature of their work experience.


What is the GPA and GMAT requirement for applying to the Boler School?
The minimum undergraduate GPA for admission to the JCU Graduate School is 2.5. The entering class for the 2003-04 academic year had an average undergraduate GPA of 3.21 and an average GMAT score of 527.


How long will it take for my GMAT scores to be sent to the Boler School of Business?
The Educational Testing Service (ETS) sends scores within two weeks of the test date. If you are uncertain as to whether we will receive your official scores by the deadline, you can submit your unofficial scores.


What is the tuition for the Boler School’s Graduate programs?
Tuition for the 2004-05 academic year is $793 per semester credit hour for graduate business courses.


How long does it take to complete the Part-time Programs?
Typically, part-time evening students complete the programs in 2.5 to 4 years. However, this varies based on the student’s previous coursework and course waivers. Most part-time students take two courses each semester. Full-time students may complete a program in one year, taking as many as four courses per semester. Classes meet one evening per week from 6:30 to 9:15 during the academic year. Summer courses meet two evenings per week from 6:30 to 9:15.


Can I take a graduate class in the Boler School before applying to John Carroll?
No. The MBA and MSAccy programs follow specific curriculum. Therefore, all students are required to apply and enroll in the program before taking any classes.


What is the teaching Methodology?
Our faculty utilizes lectures, case studies, projects, group presentations, interaction with real-world clients and simulations. Each course uses a different amount of each of these teaching methods based on the subject and the professor’s teaching methods based on the subject and the professor’s preferences. Class sizes are kept small for effect learning.


What is the range of TOEFL scores for admitted international applicants?
The minimum TOEFL score required for admission into John Carroll is 550 or an equivalent computer-based score of 213. Evaluation of international transcripts needs to be done through either World Education Services — www.wes.org — or Educational Credential Evaluators — www.ece.org.
